Vendetta

A)
1. The setting of this story takes place in the ramparts of Bonifacio.
2. Antoine Saverini was stabbed to death by Nicolas Ravolati.
3. The killer took refuge in a Sardinian village called Longosardo.
4. The “black pudding” is the meat the mother uses to train her dog.
5. The story was written in third person narrative.

B)
1. The title of the story is “Vendetta” which means a feud in which members of the opposing parties murder each other. The mother who’s son had been murdered swore a vendetta on the murderer. So after much thought she found out a way to carry this out. By starving the dog and rewarding him with treats after he mauled a dummy by the throat she trained her dog to attack on command. After many months when the dog was ready she went to Longosardo and carried out the vendetta when her dog tore Nicolas by his neck.

C)
What might have happened next if the story were to continue is a vendetta against the mother for the death of Nicolas. Then if she were to be killed there would be no one to avenge her and the vendetta would be over. But she now has an attack dog so it could have been a bitter fight till the death. The woman was very old though so she probably would have excepted death because her plan was finished. Who knows what would happen but I would be interested to see the after effects.

D)
In the end I thought this was a very interesting story, with a eerie tone that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The setting alone is creepy, with tall mountains towering over a tumultuous sea that could not be sailed on. Along with that, the plot is very melancholy too, with murder as the primary mission for the main character. Guy de Maupassant reminds me of Edgar Allan Poe and his story shows the darker side to humans.

A)
1. A town, in the moutains, at the edge of Bonifacio, over looking the lower sea shores of Sardinia.
2. Nicolas Ravolati killed Antoine Soverini by thrusting a knife into him at the beggining of the story.
3. Nicolas took refuge at Sardinia.
4.black pudding is sausage from a pig.
5 3rd person narrative.

b)
6. Vendetta is the curse the mother swore to avange her sons death. To do so she need help since she know that her body cant get the revange alone. she starved the dog while making a dummy. after a few days of starving the dog she stuffed black pudding in the dummys neck and then let the dog off its chain. over the course of a few months she did this and the dog learned to attack a mans thoat, which she would use for revange.

C)
7. The lady would be happy that she avanged her son. People might become afraid of her and stay away because of her killer dog. Another possiblity is that she lives out her life tell death, but im not sure of what could really be possible to happen next.

D)
8. This story was well writen, had a plot and a story line, also it was able to keep my attention! the characters showed emotion and when they were thinking about something, we were clueless at what they were really doing tell it was done. I over all enjoyed this story because it was unique (old lady getting revange) and had a start and finish, no just jumping into something.

I thought it was a clever way of getting back at somebody while protecting her personal life.

A)
1. A cliff over looking a channel in Bonifacio.
2. Nicolas Ravolati killed Antoine Saverini by a knife thrust.
3. Sardinia
4. A sausage.
5. Third Person.

B)
6. Vendetta is a brutal desire for something, no matter the cost. She needed her dog to hold this vendetta with her, but the dog was to busy trying to call her master back. The woman used a tactic that would allow her to have claim over the murder, as she ordered it directly, and in front of the man, but would allow her to live herself, instead of dieing half way through the deed.

C)
7. I do not believe anything would have happened. It was obvious in the context that if a family member was killed, it was the right of the family to seek justice, be it in court or be taking the murderers life. To would see that she had taken Nicolas’ life and leave it at that. The deed had been punished and everything was set to rights.

D)
8. I think the story could have used more contexts, if only so other could understand how things were done at that time, in that location. Other then that, it was a very well written story, and could have been nice as an actual novel; though a lot more would be needed for a novel to cover that short of a time. We don’t want to hear every time she breaths along with what has already been written.
